  1. What are your top 5 strengths? Strengthsaug9
My top 5 strengths are Positivity, Developer, Woo, Restorative, and Empathy.
  2. What strength do you find yourself using most often?
I found myself most often using positivity and restorative. I have a heart to serve and that always compels me to take action and reach out to people.
  3. How have strengths helped you in your coursework and/or leadership opportunities at UF?
Strengths have helped me tremendously.  I have always been a positive individual while most of the people around me viewed it as a negative or a sign of vulnerability. I never knew that something that came naturally to me could be strength.

I have learned the impact that this strength can have on a team. I have learned ways to imply my strengths so that the team can move forward. For example, being a Preview Staffer requires long hours. Some days are simply long and one needs an extra push to keep going. My positivity always looks forwards and finds the small things to be grateful for. That not only keeps me going but my optimism becomes contagious and spreads to the rest of my staff.

Strengths have helped me become a better leader. It makes me more aware of what I am good at and helps me strengthen those areas. Instead of focusing on my weaknesses, I can just work on ameliorating what I am already good at.

  4. How will your strengths help you reach your future career aspirations?
Strengths empowered me to believe in myself and put forth effort in everything that I do. I aspire to become a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner. With a quick-paced job like that, I won’t have time to second guess myself but rather give my all and trust that I can perform my job to my best ability.
  5. What do you love most about the strengths philosophy?
What I love the most about the strengths philosophy is the idea of focusing and strengthening the areas that you are already strong in instead of devoting more time to your weaknesses.
  6. What have you learned about yourself once you knew your top 5?
After knowing my top 5, it reinforced everything that I knew about myself. I learned that all the qualities that came naturally to me are actually areas of strengths. I have been better able to understand myself and why I behave a certain way.
